Chapter 8

For the hundredth time she checked her watch. Brianna would have to show up within the next ten minutes or she would be left behind. Cecilia looked over the tickets again and checked the flight schedule. Their flight was still on time. They needed at least half an hour to go through customs for this flight. First it was to New York, then France. A week-long European vacation for Spring Break was their plan. They needed it.

Cecilia had been crumbling apart since last year. Many of her ambitious plans already seemed unattainable, so she gave up. People at the university were pigs and far stupider than people in high school. This was suppose to be an intellectual institution! What made it worse was there was no Father Andrew to turn to for support. He had left Mount Carmel Boarding School due to some sickness. She knew they should not have left him alone that night. At least he notified her that he was going to be leaving. Cecilia wanted desperately to talk to him.

Brianna was having a blast at her university. She slipped right into college life without much of a hassle. She even had a new boyfriend, which grated Cecilia’s nerves slightly. Cecilia would not lie, she was jealous things went so well for Brianna.

There she was! Three minutes to spare.

“Come on, Bree. We’ll miss our connection at this rate!”

“I’m here. Sorry. Greg got turned around on the way here and we spent a long time saying good-bye,” Brianna giggled.

Cecilia could not help but notice that Brianna still wore the ring Sebastien gave her. Cecilia had kept hers too. It was on her key chain. She could at least fake having a boyfriend once since the roses had long disintegrated.

“He’s not going to be creepy and call all the time, is he?” Cecilia moaned.

“No…and I’m not going to tell him about my European boyfriend,” Brianna giggled again, shoving Cecilia’s arm.

Cecilia shook her head, “You’ve become such a ‘ho”.

“Whatever!”

There were no complications getting onto the plane to New York.

“I wish we could go to New York too,” Brianna sighed wistfully as they landed.

“Eh,” Cecilia replied. “I’m not into big cities.”

“Yeah…they’ll have great shopping in Europe.”

“Just as expensive,” Cecilia muttered.

“Miser,” Brianna teased.

There was a long delay for their connecting flight. The two of them had run out of things to talk about for awhile. Brianna opened her book and read avidly. Cecilia also cracked a book, a travel guide and started planning. She had dog-eared all the pages and highlighted sights weeks ago. It did not hurt to look again.

Brianna and she had found a long list of castles to explore and museums to visit. Of course, there were cities to see, clubs to go to and restaurants to try too. Now that they were so close to their destination, Cecilia suddenly felt disinterested. When everything was a fantasy it was far more exciting. She hoped the reality did not disappoint her, like her fantasy of college.

Finally, the boarding attendant opened the door. The plane was boarding. Cecilia nudged Brianna with her foot. Brianna glanced up briefly, put her book away and fished out her ticket without saying a word. The two of them boarded and found their seats. It was off to Paris, France.

“It’s kind of ironic how we’re going from Paris to Paris,” Brianna smirked.

“I haven’t heard that one before,” Cecilia smirked back.

They chatted small talk for awhile. It took the plane nearly forty minutes to prepare for take-off.

Once in the air, they entertained themselves by whatever means they could. Brianna had brought her laptop and started IM-ing friends from school and listening to music. Cecilia only had her CD player and a few comics, but she had read them all on her flight to New York. For now, she drifted into fantasies of their trip and dreamed the impossible. All she had to do was get through her undergrad and she would be free. She could finally live her own life then. That’s when it would all begin. That was what Cecilia decided.

She must have nodded off because she woke up to see land below them again. The pilot announced that they would be landing in half an hour. Brianna had to turn off her laptop for the rest of the trip. She turned to Cecilia and grinned. Anticipation was written all over her face.

Cecilia was glad she was adept at language. The highest form of flattery was imitation and addressing someone in their native tongue. Their hostess complimented her for her beautiful accent and Cecilia knew that she had probably just set the tone for the rest of their stay. Insulting their hostess upon arrival would have been a disaster, so she had prepared specifically for it.

Brianna and she were staying with one of Brianna’s boyfriend’s relatives. It was affordable lodging so Cecilia would not argue.

The drive from the airport was almost as long as the flight. It would take a long time to adjust to the new time schedule.

After two days, Cecilia was finally ready to go out. She had gotten food poisoning their first day and took awhile to recover. Brianna had gone out on her own to a couple of the “hot spots” Cecilia was not particularly interested in going to. She also proudly announced that she had found a lovely companion. A “petit ami” Cecilia grumbled.

Why could the past not stay behind her? It always came to the forefront of her mind. Their hostess had often pried into Cecilia’s business, insisting on knowing everything. Cecilia usually turned the discussion to an argument of philosophy, which she enjoyed. She liked to fight, there was no two ways about it. Whether it be with words or fists, fighting was fun.

The first sight they went together to was a medieval museum. Cecilia wanted to look at the weaponry and armour. Brianna sighed often. At first, Cecilia thought Brianna was bored or missing her new “petit ami”.

“Are you okay? Ca va?” Cecilia asked as the walked by the remake of a medieval throne room.

“What? Oh oui, ca va,” Brianna giggled. She had a hard time remembering any French.

“You keep sighing.”

“Sorry. I’m just remembering,” Brianna admitted.

“Your horrible project or Sebastien?”

Brianna grimaced at Cecilia playfully.

“Both. Everything here reminds me of them. The armour. The swords. The coat of arms. They would recognize these things. I just feel sorry they came to America and not here. They would have felt at home here.”

“Except they couldn’t speak French,” Cecilia reminded.

Brianna chuckled, “That would be a problem…but everyone knows a little English nowadays.”

“True. We are slowly conquering the world with our language,” Cecilia grinned.

“It’s horrible,” Brianna teased.

“True. I wonder how heavy those swords are. I’ve heard only two or three kilograms. Which isn’t too bad.”

“Why are swords so interesting?”

“They kill people, I like that,” Cecilia joked. “Ah…I remember threatening Antoine with my kendo stick. I wonder if I could have bested him in a match.”

“You’ll never know,” Brianna said solemnly.

Cecilia was stunned to silence, fearing she may have upset Brianna somehow.

“It would really suck to live in a castle,” Cecilia mentioned, changing the subject.

“Yeah, I remember someone’s project on that. I would never live in one.”

“We should visit one this afternoon. I think we can catch a train out to the countryside. What do you say?”

“Sounds fabu. Let’s go!”

Rain had begun to fall as they made their way out to the old castle. They had to make their visit brief since the castle was mostly in ruins and provided little shelter. In a small shop in the castle village, they found some shelter and an afternoon tea.

“I’m sorry that we couldn’t stay long,” Brianna sighed apologetically.

“It’s not your fault. You don’t control the weather,” Cecilia half-smiled.

“But I mean, so far this trip has really sucked for you. I feel bad. You get sick. The castle tour was ruined and now it’s raining. I wanted you to have fun, because I know you’ve been having a hard time.”

“Thanks Bree. I appreciate it. I’ll go on a little pilgrimage tomorrow or something. Perhaps I should visit Lourdes for Father Andrew.”

“What’s in Lourdes?”

“Healing Waters. Our Lady of Lourdes? Oh, you weren’t in that class. Well, it’s a hot-spot for pilgrims seeking a miraculous healing. The water is blessed by the Virgin Mary. She appeared to Saint Bernadette there.”

“Only you would know something like that,” Brianna grinned shaking her head. “I’ll go with you. Normally I don’t like church things but I’ll go.”

“You don’t have to. I’d feel bad if you were bored.”

“I got to spend two days doing what I wanted. I can spend one day for you.”

Cecilia bit her lip to prevent herself from crying.

“Thanks Bree. I…I do need this.”

It was raining the next day as they took the train to Lourdes. Cecilia felt excited. A spiritual renewal was what she longed for. Perhaps this would help Father Andy too. That thought and that hope gave her a deep found joy that she could never explain to Brianna. The belief that prayers offered here could reach half way across the world was more exciting than any magic any elf could conjure.

I wonder if Lucifer has found his Silvia again? It would be strange to offer prayers for Lucifer at Lourdes, but it’s not his fault his parents named him that. I wonder if he was a trouble-maker in his youth. Wait…why am I thinking about him? Cecilia inwardly scolded herself.

Cecilia joined in a procession of umbrellas to a mass held for the sick. There she prayed for Father Andrew’s good health. From there they were given a tour and told the legend of the saint. Cecilia prayed for Sebastien and Antoine for some reason. Thunder rolled overhead and tourists scattered. People filled their bottles with holy water and left. Cecilia wanted to stay. Brianna grew nervous about the storm, but stayed beside Cecilia. The large baths full of Lourdes water were empty save for the ripples from the falling rain drops. The facility was closing, but Cecilia remained.

She was in the chapel praying now for everyone else, while Brianna went out for a bite to eat. Inside of her pocket, she felt a hot poke. Curiously she reached inside and pulled out her keys. The Elf-stone was illuminated, like on that night before.

I wonder if Lourdes Water will heal a broken heart, Cecilia wondered, as her mind flooded with memories. Thunder rumbled on outside. She was already soaked, it could not do more damage to walk out in the rain and try. No one else was there. No one would see her.

Cecilia crept out of the chapel, holding the ring in her hand. It was warm against her skin. Her face was streaked with rain as she approached the water with great hope. She heard someone shout out to her. It was now or never! Cecilia jumped into the water. It was terrifyingly cold. She felt someone grab her arm and pull her out.

“What are you doing, Ceese? You’ll catch pneumonia!” Brianna scolded.

Cecilia grinned ear to ear and broke from Brianna grip. Slowly she back further into the pool.

“Cecilia!” Brianna pleaded, hopping in with her flip-flops still on and reaching out to her. “You’re acting weird. Let’s go to the hotel and get you dried off.”

“I need to be here, Brianna.” Cecilia replied.

“Why?” Brianna groaned. Cecilia had finally snapped.

Cecilia held up the ring. Brianna held up hers too, since it had grown too hot for her finger.

“Yours too?” Brianna whispered.

Cecilia nodded. Brianna snapped back to reality.

“Cecilia, this is madness. It’s raining and you’re swimming in holy water. You’re probably offending someone.”

Before either of them could say another word, lightning struck the water and they both fell.

Cecilia woke up first. The smell of wet dirt, grass and iron filled her nose. Her body was sore, but she felt rather refreshed. A flicker of light caught her eye. It was the elf-stone ring. At her touch it illuminated for a moment then faded. She slipped it onto her finger and willed herself to get up. Stiffly, she braced herself back onto her feet. Unsteadily, she faltered and caught herself against something cold. She found her reflection upon the smooth, metal surface. Her face was haggard, still wet and now muddy from the rain. Cecilia sighed brushed some of the hair from her face, then took a step back to orient herself.

Brianna lay a few feet away. Someone must have pulled them out of the pool. But where were they? For a moment, Cecilia panicked. She looked over herself for any signs of being handled. Her clothes were still on correctly, although wet. There were no bruises or red marks from rough handling. There was no blood anywhere. How did they get here? They could not have walked in their condition.

Cecilia stumbled forward and grabbed hold of a tree branch. Carefully, she climbed up the dead tree to survey her surroundings. There was nothing but grassland and a forest. She could see no roads, no houses, no signs…where were the mountains? Lourdes was near a mountain range.

“Oh God, where are we?” Cecilia whined. “Brianna’s going to be so pissed at me. Oh shit! Brianna!”

Cecilia clambered down the tree and ran back to Brianna. She checked her vital signs to find her alive, but not awake. Cecilia looked around in a panic for something to cover Brianna with so she did not freeze. The sun was setting so it would be dark soon and cold.

“Okay, Cecilia let’s not panic. That won’t help right now. We need to find help or shelter. But first, let’s look for something to keep Bree warm until she wakes up,” Cecilia told herself.

She eyed the woods and it came to her, leaves. She would cover Brianna with dry leaves. Her siblings would hide in leaf piles in the fall, they were warm. Surprisingly, the forest floor was dry. Cecilia told herself not to let it bother her and just be grateful that it was dry. It took her several trips back and forth to cover her friend. She did not bother to find anything for herself. The sun was low in the sky and Cecilia’s stomach cried for food. She would not leave Brianna at night. It would not be safe.

Cecilia huddled up near Brianna and leaned against the rock formation they were near. It was then, to her delight, she heard voices speaking a language she understood, English. They were male voices, gruff and low.

“Are you sure no one is watching it? If the Luminens know…”

“Shush! We are in no danger. I have the pact elf-stone that makes it work. It will obey me.”

“My lord, what if we are seen?”

“Then Ferrium will destroy our witnesses. Columbo, are you with me or not? You aren’t going to betray me like Lucifer did, are you?”

“No, no my lord. I am with you to the end…as long as that end isn’t anytime too soon.”

“Then quit your sniveling and help me out here. You keep watch, I will awaken the beast.”

Cecilia held her breath. The information was sketchy at best, but she if she could leap to one conclusion, they were not in France…they were not anywhere near Lourdes. They were not anywhere remotely resembling home.

“Oh shit,” Cecilia hissed silently.

If she could assume several more things, she quickly deduced that the two men would not help them and if they were intending to do whatever it was they were going to do in secret, then she had best disappear. But Brianna was still unconscious.

There was no time to lose. Cecilia dusted the leaves off of Brianna and started dragging her into the woods as quickly as she could.

Please don’t wake up, please don’t wake up, Cecilia prayed.

The ground shook and Cecilia fell with Brianna on top of her. She had not gotten very far into the woods, so she could see the ground split open and scatter debris. The reflective surface she glanced in earlier was whatever was coming out of the ground. A head reared up attached to a long neck. A monster! It bucked and flailed before settling and turning calmly towards whoever woke it up.

Cecilia could not hear anything that was being discussed. Her attention was stolen by Brianna’s soft moan. Quickly, Cecilia covered Brianna’s mouth before she could scream. And scream she did upon her rude awakening, but into Cecilia’s hand.

“Calm down, I’m right here,” Cecilia hushed. “Keep it down, we don’t want be seen.”

Brianna nodded fearfully. The two girls watched the ordeal from the woods at the bottom of the small hill that had turned into a mythical looking creature. It’s shining form began to move away with unearthly soft steps. Two figures remained at the hole the creature emerged from. Cecilia wondered if they had been spotted, but the figures retreated as well.

They waited several minutes before releasing a long held breath.

“Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God,” Brianna flustered. “What’s going on? Where are we?”

Cecilia stood up and dusted off her wet jeans, which was a futile battle.

“Well, we’re lost real good,” Cecilia admitted, hoping against hope that Brianna did not start blaming her on the spot.

“Where?” Brianna insisted.

“I heard those guys talking before…that thing…came up. They mentioned something about an elf-stone and Lucifer. From which I can conclude we are not in France at all. I can either conclude we are having a very, very terrible dream thanks to the storm and the water or we’re dead and this is purgatory or we may very well be in Pravignon.”

“WHAT?” Brianna screamed.

Brianna began pacing around furiously and shouting erratically, “You mean to tell me that we have been sucked through a Tempus Gate? You expect me to believe that someone cast a magic spell and sent us here? What…what are we going to do? We can’t be here. We can’t stay! We need to get back.”

“Right, I agree,” Cecilia said, relieved Brianna was not blaming her. “We need to calm down and think about what we are going to do.”

“Excuse me, are you two lost?”

The girls froze like frightened deer and looked for their attacker. All they saw was a smiling young boy with corn silk, curly hair and beautiful blue eyes, with long slender ears that stuck out of the sides of his head. Brianna’s mouth hung open, so Cecilia started talking, “Well…we are new around here. Who are you?”

“My name is Glaraphim,” the elf-boy introduced brightly grinning.

“Are you suppose to be out this late?” Cecilia smirked, suddenly feeling much better that a local was nearby, speaking English and not attacking. There had to be a house nearby.

“Well…it’s not that late yet,” Glaraphim argued.

“And you talk to strangers?”

“You aren’t scary. You’re just a couple of girls,” Glaraphim said, proudly folding his arms over his chest.

“Cecilia, stop it. Ask him if he knows someone who can send us home,” Brianna pleaded, finally finding control over herself.

“Okay, okay. Fine, you win, Glare. My friend Brianna and I are lost and we need to know where we are. We also need a place to stay for the night. We can figure out a way to pay you back, promise,” Cecilia explained.

Glaraphim looked at them impishly. Cecilia was charmed, but growing cold.

“What will you pay me?”

Cecilia held up Antoine’s ring, “Would this do?”

Glaraphim snatched it and made it glow bright. A little spark shot out of it and he seemed pleased.

“Okay that’ll do. You are in Lucior. Our house is close by. It’s our country house, we’re on a little vacation because Mom’s pregnant again. She hates the big city. Did you see what made all that noise?”

Cecilia nodded, “Yeah. Oh yeah. I think it’s bad news. We’ll have to tell someone about it soon.”

“It was the dragon, wasn’t it?”

“Yeah…it walked away.”

Glaraphim bit his lip, “That means there’s going to be a war.”

Glaraphim lead them through the woods by light of the elf-stone. They arrived at the house and Brianna was thrilled to see it.

“MOM! MOM!” Glaraphim shouted and ran towards the house. The lights from inside the lodge turned up and an elven woman burst out in her night dress. Her middle was swollen with an infant to be born soon. Her eyes were the same bright blue as Glaraphim’s and they stared at the girls intensely.

“Who is this?” the woman asked briskly, eyeing the girls suspiciously.

“Two girls lost in the woods. I said they could stay. But mom! We have to find Dad! The dragon’s gone!” Glaraphim explained in a panic.

The woman clutched her stomach protectively and she grabbed her son’s ear with the other hand.

“Get inside!” she hissed and shut the door.

Cecilia looked at Brianna questioningly.

“Now what?”

Brianna sputtered irritably, marched toward the door and pounded on it.

“Please, let us in. We’re lost, cold, and really scared. We need help,” Brianna pleaded.

Cecilia felt herself blush and stood near Brianna.

The woman returned to the door and sighed, “Sorry. I had to punish my son for being stupid. May I ask your names before I grant you entry?”

Cecilia felt guilty for getting Glaraphim into trouble, “He didn’t mean any harm.”

“Just your names, please. I have told him specifically not to play there.”

“I am Cecilia Stanic.”

“I’m Brianna Torbe.”

“And I am Silvia Lux, welcome to my home.”

Cecilia’s eyes widened, “Lucifer’s Silvia?”

“You know of my husband?”

Cecilia felt her throat go dry and she could not respond verbally, so she nodded.

“Yeah, he was a real jerk to her too,” Brianna answered.

Silvia stepped to the side and allowed them in.

“You will have to tell me everything. I bet it’s a juicy tale and maybe I’ll get to punish him too,” Silvia clapped giddily.

Brianna’s mood swung instantly to a happy mood upon entering the warm house.

“You’ll need to wash off and get dry clothes. Glaraphim! Glare, fetch some of my night dresses and fill the tub. Here, this is yours I believe,” Silvia held out the elf-stone ring.

“I did give it to him as a gift for helping us,” Cecilia said. “I want him to have it.”

“Very well. Hungry? I have a few leftovers from dinner I was going to give my husband. He’s out rather late tonight. Horrible meetings, he pushes himself too far sometimes.”

“Food would be nice,” Brianna said, ignoring the second half of Silvia’s rambling.

Silvia smiled delightedly and waddled off to the kitchen. Cecilia got to her feet and followed, “I’ll help.”

“I’m fine. I’m not old, just pregnant.”

Cecilia backed away and let Silvia heat up whatever it was they would eat.

After eating, washing and slipping into dry clothes, Brianna and Cecilia happily retold of their adventure with Antoine, Sebastien, and the mysterious Luki. Silvia and Glaraphim were extremely amused.

“That is too much,” Silvia giggled. “I am so sorry he attacked you, but oh if you knew him…so clumsy and bashful. Oh he was never like that with me…of course I was always the boss. I beat him up when I first met him. Not on…well…slightly on purpose.”

“Sounds familiar…Ceese didn’t you knock the living crap out of Antoine?”

“I don’t like Antoine,” Cecilia snapped defensively.

Silvia laughed again, “Oh…even Lucius is laughing”. She rubbed her stomach. “Here feel.”

“Are you sure it’s a boy?” Cecilia asked laying her hand on the stomach.

“I’m sure he’ll trick me and come out a girl. But I call him Lucius anyway. He knows his name already,” Silvia smiled happily.

Cecilia could feel the life squirming underneath, he was restless or perhaps scared. She sighed and could not help but feel jealous of Silvia. She was having Lucifer’s baby.

Glaraphim had been sent to bed early for his actions, which he complained about passionately.

“He’s becoming an upstart, just like me,” Silvia sighed after arguing.

Cecilia was growing tired, but she wanted to stay up to see Lucifer again. She wanted to see the look on his face when he saw her again. She was sure Silvia would revel in Lucifer’s embarrassment. Cecilia heard plenty of interesting stories about the elf. He was elected with emergency power once he returned. Silvia had found him only weeks after he had come back. Apparently, they were quite happy to see each other again, judging the by the size of Silvia’s belly.

Brianna looked tired too. She had asked several times if there was any way to get back home, but the answer was the same with Silvia, she did not know.

At long last, the moment came. A door opened and shut and then came that voice that Cecilia remembered only more beautiful now than before.

“Silvia, darling are you awake? The lights are on and…I…” he stopped and stared. He looked even more handsome than Cecilia remembered, healthier with more color in his cheeks and glimmer in his eyes. Cecilia felt herself go red, much to her embarrassment. Lucifer had a family, she could not have him. Why did she have that feeling that she could?

Silvia put a stop to the awkward silence with an explosion of laughter. Glaraphim pounded down the stairs and bolted into his father.

“Dad! Dad! The dragons back! I saw it! I mean, they saw it. Dad, is there going to be a war?”

Lucifer seemed to have remembered where he was finally.

“Glaraphim, you should be in bed.”

“Dad, tell me. I’m eleven now, I need to know!”

“You won’t have to worry about war. You will stay with your mother if that happens. There may be some fighting but don’t worry. We know about the dragon.”

“You do?”

“Yes. Now, give me a kiss and go to bed. You’re not suppose to play out that way, I thought your mother told you.”

“She did,” Glaraphim said bashfully rubbing his backside.

“All right, good night, son,” Lucifer sent the boy back upstairs, before turning his attention to the girls.

“I never expected to see you two again,” he admitted, settling into a chair.

“We didn’t expect it either,” Brianna replied, in annoyance. “We want to go back, do you know a way?”

Lucifer hunched his shoulders, “I do not know of any Tempus Guards other than Father Andrew and Baron Peregrine. The Baron won’t help you and Father Andrew is obviously not here. I am sure there is someone else who could be more helpful to you than I.”

Brianna sighed dismally, “This is horrible. Greg is going to be so upset. I was going to visit him over the summer!”

Cecilia rolled her eyes, but inwardly was pretty upset too, “Funny how this works, eh? First the princes are sent here and now us. We should find them and help them “repay their debt””

Lucifer chuckled, “Not a bad plan, except for the fact we will be going to war.”

“Funny how our lives are always on the line,” Cecilia shook her head in disbelief.

Lucifer knitted his brows together pitifully, “I am so sorry. Why don’t you get some sleep, you look like you need it. You two are safe here with my family. It actually makes me feel much safer that you two are here.”

He glanced at his wife who rolled her eyes, “I’m not that weak, Lucy.”

“But you aren’t getting enough rest.”

“Have you ever carried a baby? Hm? I don’t think so. I know what I’m doing. I’ve carried your children before. I’ll leave for my mother’s in a month”

“In two weeks. I think things will progress quickly and I won’t have you traveling in the crossfire.”

“Aidern’s not going to attack the capitol again, Lucy.”

“I told you never to mention that name in this house,” Lucifer cried out.

Silvia grinned deviously and winked at the girls.

“We better get some sleep,” Cecilia interrupted.

“Right, right, Lucy dear, show your old girlfriends where they can sleep. And remember…I’m watching you, tiger,” Silvia playfully glared at her “cheating” husband.

Lucifer flushed and motioned the girls towards another part of the house.

“I’m sorry if she’s over-whelmed you. Silvia is a dynamo and…”

“She’s pregnant, I know. Women act funny,” Cecilia said waving her hand. “By the way, congratulations. I hope Lucius is healthy.”

Lucifer flushed brighter, “Th-thank you, Cecilia. Thank you for your prayers.”

Cecilia felt herself blush.

“Glaraphim is right next door, so don’t be alarmed if something goes bump in the night. A washroom is right there if you need it. My wife and I are downstairs near the kitchens if you are in any extreme need,” Lucifer explained.

“Thank you,” Brianna replied politely.

Lucifer bowed and left the girls to themselves.

“Wow…talk about luck,” Cecilia sighed, collapsing onto the bed. “I was afraid we’d have to sleep in the woods.”

“Cecilia, what are we going to do? We can’t stay here. There’s going to be a war.”

“I know. Luki will help us.”

“He said he didn’t know anyone that would send us back!”

“He’s not the only person here you know. We’ll ask someone else. For now, I think we should enjoy the rest of our spring break. Remember how Antoine and Sebastien were when they first arrived?”

“Yeah…you’re right. Maybe we should find them. I’m sure they’d be glad to see us. And they might know someone. I’m sure Sebastien read everything he could about the Tempus Halls after traveling through them.”

Cecilia laughed and yawned.

“Okay…I’m going to die now. See you in the morning.”

“Good night, Ceese.”

“Night, Bree”.
